Taychreggan Hotel

Oct 16, 2008

Spent three nights here at the beginning of October. Our room was lovely, it was called Boswell and was very spacious, with two windows overlooking the Loch. We were met by Fiona who showed us round and then to our room. I do not agree that the reception is hard to find. Its very obvious. The staff were cheerful, helpful... more

I have just returned to Sweden from a trip to Scotland, where I spent 4 days at Roineabhal Country House. It´s not far from Oban on the westcoast; it took me 2½ - 3 hours to drive from Edinburgh. It`s a beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. My hosts Maria and Roger and their staff of one are the nicest people,... more

Sith Mor House is a fantastic luxury bed & breakfast in Kilchrenan. We stayed in the Loch Awe Room which had fabulous views over Loch Awe and luxurious bathroom. John & Patsy made us feel very welcome and gave us some useful advice on places to visit during our short stay. Great breakfast in the dining room, again overlooking the... more

We really wanted to like this place more, but it didn't live up to expectations (which were probably too high!). There is no question that it is a wonderful place, with a remote, tranquil location and wonderful food. I definitely recommend it, if you want to spend this much. However, having stayed at other similar places on our trip the... more

Lovely accommodation with excellent food. In a nice setting with its own burn at the bottom of the garden. Stayed two nights in September 2008 whilst we explored Loch Awe and Oban. Maria and Roger were excellent hosts and were able to provide valuable local information. You must try the award-winning porridge for breakfast. more

The idea of a queit ,tranquil, romantic night away after being unwell for 6 months seemed the perfect answer.Lets splash out said my husband and get the most expensive one night stay in scotland. The Taychreggan seemed perfect. On arrival the drive and hotel were unbelievably beautiful. The reception was extremely difficult to locate and eventually a polish girl found us and... more

Beautiful location, great welcome, very comfortable room, outstanding food. If our home was really comfortable, wonderfully decorated and furnished, this would be a home from home. One of the newspaper reviews of this place said "this is a 4* Hotel masquerading as a B&B" - from our experience we'd say that's just about right. We're going back. more

The other reviews say most of it. The drive down the single track road is well worth it to get to the hotel. It's situated on the lochside with fabulous views of the loch from the rooms at the front. Make sure you get one of these - the others would be disappointing in comparison. We stayed in the Walter... more

I have stayed at Taychreggan a few times over the last few years and love it. I do however notice a BIG difference now that Fiona is running the place. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service is wonderful. They have renovated alot if not all of the rooms and the new ones have huge bathrooms, big beds... more

Stayed here for one night in July 2008, and what a wonderful experience. Friendly staff throughout our stay, with a lovely room - all rooms are decorated in a different way, but all have a character that will make the experience memorable. Both dinner and breakfast were of a very high standard, and the view from the dining room at... more

My wife and I were there for 3 nights in July. We stayed in the Ichrachan room. We believe it to be superior to other rooms. Although many of the rooms have a great lake view we felt It has the best lake view. The common areas are very comfortable, very circa 1850. Tall, grand rooms with the sort of... more

This is a gem . A lovely setting by a babbling brook. We arrived to a warm welcome. tea and scones too ,in a great residents lounge. By pure chance and coincidence we came across this magical place while driving around in the area looking for a place to stay and we must say that it certainly was the highlight of our trip. The very friendly manager gave us a top of the range lake view room at the cheapest room rate and also arranged for a... more

We've just returned from a quick visit to the West Coast of Scotland and stayed at this wonderful bed and breakfast. The accommodation was 1st class. We stayed in the King bedroom which had views over the Loch and was beautifully decorated and very clean. Breakfast was excellent too, eggs just laid by the chickens! On the recommendation of a friend I booked a 'Romantic Weekend' for my wife & myself at Taychreggan Hotel, Nr Taynuilt. We were both in need of a well earned break, emerging from a long and dreary Scottish Winter. On arrival we were treated like VIP's and given 5 star treatment from management and Staff alike. Our room, which has its... more

For a quiet get away with stunning scenery try the Taychreggan on Loch Awe - you could say its Awesome! Very friendly staff but not overly so, nicely furnished suites or rooms with four poster beds and modernised ensuites. Most rooms have a view of the stunning loch and hotel grounds. Good breakfast choice and excellent cuisine for the evening... more

We had booked a four nights' stay at this hotel that we had first discovered 25 years ago, when we were younger and impoverished and could only afford to wander through the gardens and drool over the idyllic setting. We never actually went inside the hotel at that time but dreamed of staying there one day. Being now middle-aged and... more

We just spent the three day Hogmanay Break here. Our Garden view room was comfortable and well-appointed. The bathroom was enormous with a full length tub to stretch out in while enjoying Molton Brown toiletries. The room was checked twice daily including turn down service in the evening whilst we were dining. Check-in was quick and efficient. Lovely fires in... more
