Halfway House Inn

Aug 20, 2008

Fairly olde worlde pub with very warm welcome, however the rooms are unexpectedley modern. They have been very well decorated and are fitted out with an excellent shower and flat screen TV. The breakfast was to die for ! Right in the heart of Kingsand with several pubs in short walking distance. Beautiful village with very friendly people. I would... more

18 July 2008 - attended a wedding reception at the hotel. The meal was delicious and the venue was ideal for a small wedding party. Three couples (including the bride and groom) stayed the night. Our room was slightly dated and not cleaned to the highest of standards. Unfortunately someone had turned off the hot water in our room and... more

The entire experience of our stay at this 'hotel' was rather unpleasant. Upon arrival we were shown to the 'family suite' as were sharing with a friend and baby. The room was very dated, covered in cobwebs and dirty, incuding a rather dodgy looking stain on the sheets. The shared bathroom was cramped and dirty, with no shower and limited... more

We stayed two nights at the White Cottage in late July 2008 and enjoyed every second of it! Our room was furnished pleasantly in a traditional style but the best bit was that we could hear the sea lapping the shore with the window open! It was very quiet and although we left the window open all night, we weren't... more

We were only there one night but this is a decent hotel for a short stay. I would really give this a 3.5 rating. Good Points: . Really nice room (we were in Room 1) in nice neutral colours, plenty of space, comfy bed. . Fairly easy to find. . Nice views . Lunch was good (we both had Ploughmans... more

We recently spent three lovely days staying at the Friary Manor Hotel. We were greeted warmly by both the owner and Wilbur the hotel cat. The hotel situation is superb, it is set in lovely grounds and is very peaceful. Breakfasts were excellent served with abundant local produce. Sadly we didn't sample the evening meals, too many pasties to late... more

Although we had visited Cornwall many times in the past we had never been to this corner - the Rame Peninsular. What a find! A great place to explore some lovely beaches and scenery, walks along the cliffs (the hotel is right next to the coastal path), gardens and country houses, and within easy reach of Plymouth via the car... more

We stayed at the Friary for 4 days over Easter. The welcome could have been warmer from the owners but it was adequate. The decor of the hotel was past its best about 5 years ago, cobwebs, chipped paint, a funny smell everywhere. We know its an old building dating back to the 12th century but it just needs a... more

We stayed at Friary Manor in June 2006 for a long weekend holiday. When we first arrived i have to admit i was a bit sceptical about the place. We usually stay in big hotels so werent used to smaller places. We were shown to our room and felt that our initial reception was a bit brusque! Our room was... more

KIngsand and Cawsand are lovely Cornish villages with nice beaches and one dog beach. Nice friendly village where locals speak to you. Pubs do excellent food. Local bingo and church fares. Nice area to tour many places. We stayed in Rose Cottage which was very nice. We took our 2 dogs and they had a lovely time. Very relaxing holiday.... more

Really surprised by the lack lustre, unfriendly service given the other positive reviews. Room was very average, although clean. Breakfasts good. The surrounding area is fantastic - especially recommend Polperro. more

We spent a wonderful few days at this hotel at the beginning of March. We are getting married in the area in July and needed to go down to Cornwall to sort some arrangements. Jan and Nick Saunders couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating throughout our stay. Friary Manor is a 300 year old former vicarage and is full... more
