For our last two nights in Chiapas we decided to treat ourselves and stay at the best hotel in Chiapa de Corzo. We had no reservation but it didn't matter as the place was practically deserted. Chiapa de Corzo sounded like our kind of place. Historic, a little out of the way, access to natural features (Rio Grijalva and Canyon Sumidero) with a nice hotel, according to the guidebook. We found the recommended hotel, La Ceiba, and it looked lovely on the outside. It has a beautiful internal garden and advertises a "spa". We were relieved... more
