“Bigger aint better - especially on slide mountain”

Slide Mountain in the Catskills at 4204 ft proclaims itself as the tallest of the Catskills Mountains with dramatic sweeping vistas of 33 of the 34 Catskills peaks. Apparently only Cole Mtn (which is behind Hunter Mtn is not visible from this loft perch) The hike is billed as having several vista points before finally emerging past the true summit... more

Remember the Shining? That’s the closest description I have for the nightmare stay we had for a wedding the weekend of June 27. When we checked in we thought it was kitschy that everything looked like 1973 (with no maintenance or upgrades since). My husband and I were apprehensive about out first family vacation with a 3 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. Pollace's took away any and all of the stress we may have felt. The entire staff was accomodating to the children and our special nees (crib, dvd player, food to go quickly). They even arranged for a sitter... more
