Lake Maria (pronounced Mar-i-ah) is a great little state park just northwest of the Twin Cities metro. My husband and I wanted to get in a little backpacking/camping prior to a trip to Idaho and this was great practice. Nice hiking trails, beautiful scenery. fresh food, great staff, cute atmosphere. couldn't believe this place was out in the sticks. small towns usually have good cafes, but nice restaurants are hard to find. can't wait to go back!! more

Great place for a quiet getaway. Lots of solitude - beautiful surroundings & walking trails to the Mississippi River (great spots to just quietly sit and reflect).
