This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever experienced in my life. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, no other rooms were available in the entire town - so we were stuck. The first warning sign was the food and other miscellaneous trash that was lining the carpet on the way up the stairs. The room was falling apart,... more

We stayed here on Christmas Day while driving to Colorado. The manager on duty was very personable, and even accepted the roomsaver discount coupon for that night. The room was in good shape, and since there was no microwave in the room as promised, the manager personally brought it in for us. The breakfast was good with bread, pastries and... more

First, would I stay here again? Yes, certainly, but probably only if the rates were lower than surrounding hotels. I like this place but there isn't a huge difference between it and other nearby options. We were confused when we called Best Western to make a reservation in Hays and we ended up here instead of the Vagabond. I'm told... more

I always start with this: would I stay there again? There are 4 hotels right next to each other here, I've stayed at them all and they are all just fine, so I'd stay here again if it had the best price. The new Best Western next to it is probably a little nicer with similar features, the other two... more

The room we were given initially was disgusting, there was dried blood on the bathroom floor and walls, paint was peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom and the towels in the bathroom were dirty. I went to call the front desk and complain but the phone in our room did not work. We were given a different room which... more

I was excited about going to Gutierrez, b/c I had heard many good things about it, and they claim to be the "local's favorite." I had also heard that it was authentic mexican. it was as far from authentic as you could possibly get. I ordered the mijito, which sounded like a delicious chicken tostada, which got me excited, even... more

Overnighted as we passed through Kansas. The receptionist was courteous and efficient. The room was clean, the bathroom well maintained. Our water pressure was good. The hotel was very quiet. The free wireless internet was fast. The continental breakfast was much better than most - with fresh pastries and breads, hot oatmeal, variety of juices, as well as the waffle... more

We have had good meals at Montana Mikes in Hays several times but the last time was horrible! The waiteress took our order and then didn't come back with for an hour. Then she brought hot wings as an appetizer without bringing our drinks so I had to go to the bar and ask for a glass of water as... more

We went on a Monday night - with a goup of 8. There were several large groups - which we hadn't anticipated. The apetizers were wonderful! Had never had fried artichoke hearts before - very tasty as were the mushrooms and crab cakes. The sauces were different - and i mean that in a good way. Having never eaten there... more

Pool water was very cold. My son got in an immediately got back out. The room was nice, but I did notice a spot on one of the duvet covers. Our third floor room had a creaky floor, so I'm sure the rooms below us heard every step. Breakfast was fine, staff was friendly. more

I recommend a trip to Gella's if you find yourself in Hays. Hip decor, good food, good beer. What more could you ask for? more

I have stayed at the Tea Rose Inn many times over the past 8 years and it remains a consistently great experience. The rooms are comfortable and contain everything one needs for a relaxing nights stay. The Inn is located directly across the street from the courthouse making it very convenient if court business brings you to town. Rita makes... more

Another great new Hampton Hotel by Hilton, it was better than the Hilton Garden Inn we stayed in the night before in Wichita, KS! No complaints as the kids had the sleeper sofas and we had the king bed. :) more

Hays is a small town and most of its hotels and motels are dumpy. For a competitive price, the Tea Rose Inn is much more cosy. An elegant old home, its public areas have been gracefully restored. The rooms are a little less impressive, with cloth pinned to the walls in lieu of paint or paper, and sound communicates pretty... more

WAY too many chemicals. Smell was overwhelming as soon as we entered the room. My nasal passages were burning and i had a sore throat within half an hour. This can't be good for anyone's health. Also, the window cannot be locked and can be openned fully from the outside (and we are on the ground floor). more

We stayed one night while driving to Denver largely because of favorable reviews on this site. Overall, disappointing. Place seems rundown somehow. Beds were uncomfortable. Workout room was tiny, internet access limited to one old computer. Not a bad place, but just okay. more
