I was planning a trip to the western coast of Michigan, Chicago, and Madison, WI, and was having a hard time finding a hotel somewhere between Grand Rapids and Chicago. Sadly it appears that even newer Country Inn properties can’t get out of the past. There’s the typical “staircase & book exchange” that is standard at all Country Inns which really does add a lot of charm to the chain. Almost all other similarly priced chains ($100 a night) have upgraded and refreshed their décor. This is a newer looking... more
