A letdown in strong Santa Ana winds has allowed California firefighters to make progress on three major wildfires that have destroyed more than 40,000 acres and hundreds of houses. Some residents are being allowed to return to their homes, and most evacuation orders have been lifted.
We stopped in Westley on our way to Southern California. We checked in around 11:00pm on a Saturday night. Clerk at the counter was excellent, room was very clean (extremely cold since the a/c had been left on). Beds and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast items offered were a nice selection. My experience at this particular Holiday Inn was very pleasant. OMG - just ate there tonight, and it's one of the very few times in our lives when we really wished we had stopped at a chain. It was airport prices for TERRIBLE food.
