Having just come home from a wonderful week spent at the Cottage in Marsh, we would like to say it was truly a wonderful place to stay. Michele and Chris very friendly and welcoming. We had a double room with a very comfortable bed. An ideal place to stay to tour around Devon, somerset and Dorset. Thank You again. more

A splendid restaurant within this magnificent hotel, set in extensive grounds. Highly recommended. Check out the combe House website for full details, as this place is so much more than the average restaurant. more

We have been to the Holt on 2 occasions and the place is very pleasant and tastefully decorated with a mixture of chairs, tables and comfy sofas. The menu although not a huge selection, what was on offer we thought represented good value, nice to see also a good selection of wines. We will definately recommend this place. more

My wife and I recntly stayed for one night, whilst attending the stockcar racing at Smeatharpe. The Oaklands was ideally located for this purpose being not 15 minutes drive from the track. The double room was large and clean. It was equipped with a flat screen tv and kettle and wash hand basin, the room was not ensuite, but this... more

Ill keep this short sweet and to the point! We liked: The friendly and helpful owners, the picturesque building ,general rural location and the breakfast. We disliked: Very noisy, from both the road and the room next door (we could hear every movement of room next door, even the sound of them going to the loo) which i am sure... more

A brief two night stay in the Blossom Room, a cheery welcome & introduction from Carol complete with tea & Frank's home made cake, a really was a nice touch together with a concise explaination of what & where which covered all essential points. Breakfast is excellent & cooked to order with many delicious & locally sourced options. Our room... more

If you want scenery, the most to die for comfortable bed, home made shortbread in your room, the most welcoming, friendly couple you could ever wish to meet, unbelievable evening meal choices, fantastic breakfast (the homemade muesli and jams were fabulous) and finally the 'pillow mister' just finished it all off for the wife! Sarah-Jane and Neil work tirelously to... more

We have stayed at the cottage Marsh twice now having found the name on the Devonshire Tourist board website. We arrived in the evening the first time and was greeted with open arms, like old friends. Michelle had booked us in at the pub for an evening meal. It was as she described it on the phone, excellent, 2nd to... more

After staying at many B & B's, finding 'The Cottage' at Marsh was a joy. Michelle and Chris are wonderful hosts and you can see they take pride in their business. The room was immaculate and it is the little extra touches that made the difference. The bed was so comfortable which really does make a change. Breakfast was just... more

This lovely quiet B & B set in rolling countryside is superb for a holiday. Frank and Carol are wonderful hosts and really make you feel like a family friend rather than a paying guest. Our room 'Captain' was a good size with its own terrace outside and very comfortable. Breakfast was a lovely leisurely affair and so scrumptious we... more

Far too expensive, thought we were getting a deluxe room for £125. Turns out it was but very small. Also we got down for breakfast at 9.30 on the dot and they said they were not cooking as we were not there before 9.30 offered us a sausage sandwich. No coffee, had to go into honiton for breakfast.I expect a... more

We eat regularly at the Holt, and can honestly say we've never had a bad meal. The restaurant is owned by Otter Breweries and run by their sons. The food is modern and unusual - limited menu but I've never struggled to choose. Excellent wine choice and a great place to go just for drink. more

Wonderful place. Ideal for children. Ours learnt to fish around the pond and as we were the only guests fishing, it was ideal. They even didn't mind when it rained! The woodland nature trail was great and we saw rabbits, squirrels, a deer and lots of birds. There is a great play area with lots for children to do. The... more

Stayed here for a friends birthday celebration. It's in a beautiful location and aears to be an old cottage which has been extended and extended. Location for a celebration is superb and if your aim to is stay here purely after a party the basic state of the rooms won't bother you. They are more MFI than habitat and no... more

I have been lunching at the Flintlock Inn twice a month or so for the past 14 years. I have NEVER had a bad meal there. The Staff are all extremely welcoming and very friendly. There is an extensive menu, with many daily specials. For example, on June 17th 2009 I had the Flintlock Fantastic Fish Pie, which included fresh... more

I cannot believe somebody has written a bad review about The Cottage at Marsh. Having travelled along the A303 for over 30 yrs we found The Cottage about 4 yrs ago and have been frequent visitors ever since. We feel very fortunate to have found it. The accomodation is idealic, very quiet, the beds are very comfortable. We have stopped... more

Nice and characterful but wobetide you if you get the hard mattress! Small room (double) just large enough for two to move about, but bathroom at least as big and well equipped. Worst part was the hard mattress, although we slept OK! Not nice to sit on to watch telly or surf the web on the laptop. Restaurant cosy and... more

Expensive, unattractive setting, flat and watery beer, and staff so rude when you arrive for breakfast, that you feel compelled to get up and leave before you've even ordered. Thank heavens for sites like this which give customers the chance to share their experiences! With luck, those people whose idea of customer service is to be so aggressive and unpleasant... more
