The owner of the place, Mr. Waruna, and his staff were all amazingly nice. When we arrived, it was dark in the evening, and all we could see were antiques and oil lamps, and listen to the sound of the lake. The Samadhi Centre is not the usual place for most tourists. I strongly discourage anyone who wants to spend a nice time in Kandy to stay in this bad hotel. The hotel is too old and is not well maintained. The hotel is situated in the hills just outside Kandy with spectacular views over Kandy and the surrounding countryside. Boutique is an oft-abused term on this site so I would describe Theva as the future of modern travel: small, intimate, luxurious and slightly exclusive. A place for grown-up backpackers.
