We decided to stay here for 5 nights, initially booked only 2. Lovely apartment style rooms with fully equipped kitchen. Rooms are a decorated in style of winter sport skiing apartments in the Alps, but were lovely nonetheless. Located right on the beach, with sea very suitable for swimming. We stayed 10 days in May 2009 at the Maratea Mare hotel. Main purpose for our visit of Florianopolis was the participation at the IRONMAN Brazil triathlon race taking place at Jurere, 8 km along the beach - what takes 15 minutes by car. I stayed at the Sofitel in May for four night on business/vacation. I got a great rate on line... but you get what you pay for I suppose. The front desk clerk who checked me in was very good and spoke great English. The room was good. Sound insulation from room to room very poor as noted elsewhere here... babies... more
