The hotel is in a horrible location It would have to be to even have one person eat at the expensive hotel restaurant. The price for a dinner is about ten times higher than a nice hotel in town. i was there with 2 friends of mine. the food was quite good, tasty and the style is good. as others said that if you are an english-speaker only, please be sure that waiter understands your order well and while speaking with the waiter, point the food with your finger on the menu. the atmosphere is also good and people... more

A group of us stayed at the Shera for 3 nights when in Almaty for the Kazakhstan v England football match. There are not too many hotel options in Almaty, most are either top end of the Mmarkey (Intercontinental/Hyatt) or the lower end (Hotel Kazakhstan/Kazhol) but the Shera provides a great option somewhere in the middle.
