Although I couldn't find the name of the guest house where I stayed in Mae Hong Son, I want to highly recommend this northern Thai village as a destination for those who remember what Chiang Mai was like 25-30 years ago. Not a nice place to stay. The room was functional, 1970s-style, with a basic ensuite. We found a couple of cockroaches in the bathroom and there was a trail of ants behind the bed. The pool was out of action when we went, and when we asked if they'd fix it, they said they would 'but it would take 3-4... more
