A few blocks south of the artisanal market, it has a good location. The parking is on a side street, they have no dedicated lot. The menu has French, European, and Thai food. The prices are reasonable for Cotonou. They have a romantically lit patio and terrase, as well as an air conditioned tables inside. It is popular with foreigners... more

I spent a few nights in Novotel Cotonou for business purpose. This hotel is brand new (or as been recently refurbished? don't know). The hotel beeing located 5 minutes from the airport, you will have to take a taxi to go downtown (but it will not take more that 10 minutes to reach the city center). As a modern chain... more

The hotel is on a back street along a river near the port and ocean. It is not as luxurious as the Marina Hotel, but it is comfortable, and more reasonably priced (for Cotonou). The pool and restaurant are really nice, and the staff are pleasant. more

I have just stayed for 3 1/2 nights in the Novotel Cotonou. As my Air France flight leaves only at 11 pm I opted to book an additional halve day to use the room untill the evening. The hotel is completely renovated and the rooms look like in all new Novotel, comfortable and with everything you would need for a... more

The marina is average for quality, but freaking expensive. a bottle of water will set you back $6 USD, and a 5 minute phone call overseas to let family know you are ok since mobile phones don't work there will cost a ridiculous $100 USD. Since all that is in French we had no idea of phone rates and got... more

A recent upgrade in facilities has been accompanied by improved management: staff are motivated and friendly, public spaces are clean and bright, the pool deck is cleaned every morning and kept well organized. The Novotel Cotonou now offers very good value - the best choice for the business traveller in Benin. Rooms are still spartan but efficient and clean; the... more

We stayed at the Novotel Orisha in May 2008 for a few days of business in Cotonou. The hotel had been completely renovated since our last visit. This hotel is very nice & popular with business travellers. The bar & lobby have free access wifi, so it can be packed with guests and locals on laptops. It's very close to... more

Due to being in Cotonou, but commuting to Porto Novo for a week of work, I didn't have much free time during the day. I could not get on the internet from my room, but could do so sitting in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was good, with fresh fruits, juice, toast, various breads and jams. You could order omelettes... more

Before I got to Cotonou, I had been told there was no Internet at the Ibis, but the next door hotel, the Novotel did. At the Novotel, Internet access is best in the lobby. So I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I had wireless internet access in my hotel room. The two rooms I stayed in both looked... more

The IBIS is an international brand so you know what you get whether in Europe or Africa, there are no suprises the rooms look exactly as on the website tour. Rooms clean and a very good free wifii connection. There is a reliable generator so no breaks in current. Staff helpful. Buffet breakfast VERY generous with enough to fill you... more

Well, it was my birthday and on a weekend...we chose Cotonou, Benin Republic away from the hustle and bustle of Lagos, Nigeria and stayed in the Marina Hotel. Travelled together with my wife, an Israeli and son. No regrets. Friendly reception staff. We were able to negotiate a good deal and had an upgrade, courtesy of the hotel management. Escorted... more

28 June 2008 I stayed at Hotel du Port in Cotonou, twice now! Next week I will be going there again. Overall the Hotel is just fine. It is true that it is situated right next to the container area of the port and it can be a bit noisy at night when the containers are being pushed around! That... more

During a recent business visit I stayed at the Benin Marina, because of its good location near airport and at the beach. It started nice and smooth with an efficient check-in, including cold face-towel and welcome drink. The rooms are good and clean. Interesting discrepancy between old (design) and new (internet in the rooms/free and fairly fast free WLAN). Good leisure... more

Just Returned from a week stay in Cotonou Benin. It was mostly for work reasons but really its such a relaxing place to stay, you cant help feel chilled out there. The waiters & staff at the hotel are excellent. Always so happy to help! The hotel as an excellent large swiming pool. And a fabulous terrace which is right... more

Just spent four days at the Novotel in Cotonou and I can't complain. I do a lot of traveling and I have my own list of priorities: cleanliness, good bed, good shower, good internet connection and a good pool. The Novotel scored well on each of these points. As mentioned in the other reviews they've just finished a major renovation... more

My parents in law stayed at this hotel during 10 days. I visited them on a daily basis and I can tell you that this place was clean. According to their evaluation form, they indicated that the hotel was neat and clean, the food was good, but that the staff needed to be more affable. The housekeepers (two guys on... more

The Hotel du Lac is owned by a Lebanese family and has a large/nice terrace on the water, perfect for sunsets and watching fishermen. The actual rooms are stale 2.5-star rooms, with the absolute basic amenities (including satellite tv, hot water, and A/C). The previous reviewer was absolutely spot on in terms of the pizza - very delicious and right... more

Previous reviews are pretty well in line with what was noticed in June 07. Good news is, if you are in town, there is a wireless internet connection in the hotel with a reasonable line, so you'll get more done in the way of emails while sipping a beer at the bar than anywhere else in town. Staff obviously 'owns'... more
