We stayed at the Esplande in early October, arrived at 5:00 AM in the morning by train and got us a room immediately, even though check in is not until 11:00 AM, which we greatly appreciated. We had one of the best meals in all of Croatia at Vinodol (our favorite dish was pork and prosciutto on a skewer).
