I stayed three nights and liked the hotel location, clean and big enough room. Clean and well equipped bathroom. Coffee / thee sets ready, complimentary bottle of mineral water every evening. Free ironing of one shirt and one suit is original and really welcome after transcontinental flight in the luggage. Front stage staff is efficient and friendly. Back stage staff... more
Great service, great food and fantastic atmosphere when i used to go there when it just opened a few years ago more
They have nice cocktails and the food is delicious. It is a bit on the pricey side - but worth it! Nice decor. Waiting staff a bit slow! The best thing about this restaurant is the view of Port Louis harbour. more
I agree. The quality of food and service is no longer what it was before. I was there for Sunday lunch, and the service was pathetic. They were unable to cope with the crowd, they got orders wrong, and the food was average. To top it all, I was with my 2 year old son who cannot stand cigarette smoke.... more
I stayed at this hotel for 10 days and while using the conference facilities at Labourdonais. the hotel is in designed like a beach resort hotel - although Port Louis is not a resort area - and in fact pretty dead at night. The hotel is fine - there is a pool and a strip of artificial beach facing a... more
We spent the most memorable day in here November 2005 .....one of lifes best ever moments, the atmosphere was electric, the sights, sounds & colours & smells will stay with us both forever...it is great fun, even the local police joined in our delight as we picked some winners. We would recommend this to everyone ..... more
I was surprised by the quality and service at the Grand Ocean, great starters, excellent main course, and mouth watering desserts, do try their cheesecake, it's the best and freshest I've ever had... more
A colleague and I stayed in this business hotel for just over four weeks. It is four years old (although it looks much older because of its design), and overall it provided a great travel experience. I was working in the central business district and chose to use the (free) water taxi service and then walk to and from work... more
During the racing season in Mauritius, Champ De Mars is the best place to be on a Saturday afternoon. There are 8 races in total (first at 12.45pm and the last one at 5pm). Forget the stuffinessof British horse racing, this place is alive with sound, colour, hustle, bustle and an atmosphere that will bring you out in goosebumps. The... more
As airline crew we stay at various hotels and do expect some problems from time to time but this place had quite a big problem, staff that steal. I have stayed at this hotel twice now, the first time 3 of us got our bills changed from ordering the cheapest bottle of wine to the most expensive which we did... more
I just returned from a 2-week holiday on Mauritius during which we stayed at this hotel for the whole time. A short review: The room: We had a penthouse suite, which is decently furnished, has a nice terrace, the kichen is well-equipped, tv and DVD player are available, so is a safe box. The bathrooms are nice and with hot... more
Beautifully tended botanical gardens with plenty of tropical and sub tropical plants and trees. Give it a couple of hours to wander around the gardens in an unhurried educational visit. There is an entrance charge now for tourists but well worth a couple fo quid. The most spectacular display of the giant lily pads named after Queen Victoria. Near the... more
I stayed in Labourdonnais for a week while in Port Louis on business. Most of my colleagues recommended the hotel, but it fell short of my expectations. As a business hotel it is fine - the amenities are there, cable internet, nice buffet breakfast, etc. However, the carpet in my room is old and desperately needs replacing, my room is... more
I found this hotel to be very overrated, her sister hotel Lesuffren is far better . The staff at Labourdonnais are not very friendly and unfortunately dont all have the same information as I was given several different answers to my questions . The rooms are nice but there are no water bottles or coffee and tea making facilities in... more
In Mauritius everything loses at 5pm so there wasn’t much to do. Hence, we used to get up early and then started our daily excursions. The first place we went to was Port Louise which is the capital of Mauritius. Here we went to the Le Caudon waterfront, Port Louise waterfront and Harbor water front malls which have good branded... more
With extremely short time (Cruise ship stop) and not having Mauritius rupees we could not enter the Museum, only its nice Souvenir shop, where we could not purchase anything, because of the currency problem.(Our info .has been that Dollars, Euros and British Pounds are generally accepted in Port Louis.) Nearby shops ( mostly Indian sales persons) readily accepted leading currencies.... more
OK ok not bad avoid the Buffet more
Singer Resto? More like Singe Resto! The waitress' attitude was rude and pathetic, and she blamed us when she got us the wrong order. If at least the food was good! Not worth the trip, folks; better to eat on the streets. more
