There are only a few hotels worth staying at in N'Djamena and the Meriden is considered to be the best. Keep in mind you're in Chad - it's not a five star hotel, closer to a three star. The food was fine, lots of buffets and BBQ's but a bit repetitive and the rooms neat and clean if a bit... more

The setting is nice, with lots of vegetation and pleasant background music, very lively. Service is good for local standards, although it has some serious flaws (and you should always check your bill at the end !). Food is acceptable but not great, and I have had cases of rotten food too, for which no apology was given, but still,... more

The setting is beautiful, with a large room overlooking the garden and swimming pool. Food is very good, especially the buffets, and even more the Sunday brunch, comprising a mix of international and French specialities, Mauritian dishes (the chef is Mauritian), and some African ones, which also leads to some fine fusion cuisine. Food is very probably the best in... more

The setting could be nice, with a lot of open space and lively music, but is spoilt by the huge number of prostitutes in the evenings, who often approach male diners in rather non-discreet ways. Service is good for local standards, however, and very friendly. Food is ok, and some dishes are very good. The menu comprises international, French, and... more

Reading some of the reviews on here I was expecting to get Typhoid the moment I arrived at this hotel. OK, it has seen much better days, but Chad is only one of two countries that the Foreign Office advises against all travel to, so I wasn't surprised it wasn't a luxury resort. Your key criteria for a stay in... more

Typical french style hotel. Rude, uncaring desk staff, small selection of poor quality expensive food, and VERY dirty rooms.... all this for $200 USD per night. It smells of urine outside the rooms, and in the mornings the room is inundated with a foul methane odor obviously coming from the toilets. The furniture looks to be about 80's era Soviet... more

I stayed in the hotel for a couple of months in 2008. For me its THE place to stay in NDjamena because: close to airport, its an official rescue point in case of crises (which can happen from one day to the other) and in that case it will be highly secured; you will meet many people from other NGO,... more

The hotel itself was not that bad but the service left something to be desired. I paid 7$ U.S for a can of coke because I didnt have franc on me and each time you tell them the price is not correct they take out a calculater type in some numbers and tell you a differnt price. So withdraw some... more

If you're headed to N'Djamena, you already know what you're getting yourself into. The Novotel is not there to impress. rooms are very basic. the air conditioning works, but it will take awhile to cool down the room. Bring water with you, as the water is not always turned on. certainly don't expect the water to be hot. You're really... more

At the time of my visit, Chad was one of two countries which the Foreign & Commonwealth Office advised AGAINST travelling to. Safety is therefore pretty important and that's one of the reasons I stayed here. Having said that I found the hotel OK. Room was clean with very good a/c, furnishings were fine, TV had a good choice. For... more

OK. The facts! Chad is a country with a lot of problems. Larger than France, yet the total 'road' network does not exceed 400 km. The capital has recently (Feb 2008) undergone an attempt to overthrow the country's president. It is riven with poverty and on its knees politically. '4 Stars' here is not to be taken literally! The Novotel... more

This hotel on the surface appears to be a five star hotel. However, the overall rating should be a 3 star. The bar is very good with a very good selection of beer and liquor. The restaurant is five star. The pool area and the court yard area ire very clean on comfortable. They have a cook out on Friday... more

I spent four nights in Novotel N'Djamena La Tchadienne. I went at Novotel before but this is the worst Novotel I've never been. The quality is not OK, is not a four stars hotel. Is like a pension in Europe and the price is very expensive for the quality. There were a lot of insects in the room!!! more

I spent five nights in Kempinski Hotel in N'Djamena, in Txad. The hotel is correct but is not a five stars hotel. The staff is rude and it's difficult to speak with them. The rooms and the wc are ok with air conditioning. The breakfast and the restaurant are delicious. I had a problem because I couldn't pay with VISA... more

There is not much choice when traveling to the capital city of Chad. IT is pretty much this hotel or the Novotel, which I know nothing about. This hotel is OK at best. My sheets had a couple of holes in them as did the blankets, the floor was littered with small gnats (which were everywhere outside and apparently difficult... more

Stayed here for a few days on my way in and out of Chad. Nice hotel, overpriced, but to be expected since it is only this or the Novotel, and the Meridien is definitely nicer. Rooms are clean and tasteful and the A/C works well. The pool is also very nice and also very quiet, with nice comfortable lounge chairs... more
