Myself and my partner decided to do kili after we had both been i Tanzania a few weeks, so we got a company name from our local tour guide in Tanzania, Jackpot and from communicating with them via text message we were able to book our tour from mwanza just a week before we came to Arusha. We had a... more

If you are preparing to climb Kilimanjaro here are some basic tips to help you as you prepare: 1. Start planning the trip at least 6-8 months in advance. You will need a reputable guide company for the trek. I recommend Northwest Voyageurs (US) or Ashante Tours (Moshi). Ashante had excellent mountain guides and porters. 2. Develop a weight training... more

Stayed at the Kilimanjaro Mountain resort for one night before and then one night after an ascent of Kilimanjaro. The stay was part of a trip booked through Exodus. The overall impression left by the hotel is good. The room was spacious clean and in good condition - the anti-mozzie nets on the windows seemed to do their job as... more

My husband and I did the Machame route over 7 days. Take the extra day, it's worth it. This is a hard trail, make sure you train. We are both avid hikers and hike Colorado's 'Fourteeners' all the time, but summit day was brutal: long and very tiring. Be prepared for a dirty trail, including trash and human #2. The... more

The thought of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro never crossed my mind – to me, it was something that others did, and not something I would be capable of. However, one evening last November, I was having dinner with a friend and she mentioned a dilemma between trekking in the rain forests in South America or climbing Kili. It was only at... more

The outside of the hotel & grounds are very nice. The pool area is nice to lounge around, and the hotel is situated conveniently on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. There are several hikes that you can book through the front desk for a fee, some to waterfalls and some to the village of Machame. We particularly enjoyed the village... more

Babylon is a moderate yet good budget hotel at Kilimanjaro. They have basic facilities but in proper conditions. There prices are also very friendly as low as US $ 30 for a single room. The staff members are few but very friendly. May be with the increase in business they will employ more people. They also do Kilimanjaro Safaris at... more

If you are headed to climb the great mountain I am more than happy to share my experience with you. I made it to the summit on Sept 21, 2007. It was the experience of a life time. I followed the climb with a 7 day safari. I booked the trip thru Northwest Voyageurs in Idaho. They did an excellent... more

Stayed here both before and after our trek up Kilimanjaro and can't say enough about the setting, the quality of the property, the food, and especially GM Eric Muiruri and his entire staff! The hotel is located on the way to Machame Gate and the setting is beautiful - an old private estate turned into a small hotel. Grounds are... more

This hotel is, in terms of facilities at least, one of the best in Moshi. However my visit here was ruined by poor staff, and possibly the worst management I have ever encountered in Tanzania (and I've encountered some pretty bad management...). The problems started with the price of the room: I had agreed a discounted price over the phone... more

I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro a few weeks ago with my two sons. It was an exciting, exhiliarating experience. I am 68 and my sons are 45 and 34. We thoroughly enjoyed our time together on the mountain. My two sons made it to the top with ease. The last two hours of the summit were a real challenge for me... more

We completed our Kilimanjaro trek last year and stayed a Ameg for 2 day before and 2 day after the trek. It is a secure site with 24 hour security and set in its own walled compound. Ameg has the most beautiful gardens and a great pool and gym - the gym is really well equipped although after the trek... more

If you like service and a friendly attitude this place is NOT for you. The grounds are well kept and the room was fine but the attitude from the staff was horrible!! For starters they gave me one price over the phone then changed it when I got there, then only wanted US cash but wouldn't take $100 bills then... more

We were booked into this hotel prior to our climb of Kilimanjaro by our climbing company. The rooms and grounds were very nice to look at and stay in and we felt very safe with all of the security. However, no mosquito nets or flyscreens to keep out the hordes of mosquitos, the hot water was not always reliable and... more

The location and view is fantastic, its done very well. But that's as far as it goes. The service is horrible, the staff and director extremely rude. Certainly not what you would expect if you pay $110 per night. You get the same breakfast everyday, with local margarine, butter is out of question. If you ask for eggs done some... more

The two days at Njari Lodge were a big experience. It is a place where few tourists arrive, situated close to the forest and above the village of Uru. People are very friendly and you feel really welcome. It was a great experience to visit the families of the stuff of the lodge, walk in the village and in the... more

I recently travelled to kilimanjaro and seregeti with Masai Wanderings. (Late Dec - Jab begin). The trip was absolutely fantastic with excellent weather and even better crew. First we arrived in Arusha, where after spending a night we went to the kilimanjaro national park with our guides and porters.(Alas, my bags didn't come through for 2 days. Masai wanderings folks... more

Our tour on Exodus booked us into the Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort and it was a great place to rest up pre summit and wash up post summit. The rooms are big and bright - would say on a Holiday Inn type of quality level - but bigger rooms. Bathrooms were quite big with modern look and feel, smooth, polished tile,... more
