What an amazing experience! I am gutted because AMS stopped me from reaching the summit, but I still had a fantastic time. We stayed at Ameg in September 2009. What a waste of money. The lodge is definitely over rated and over priced for what it is. The staff are unhelpful and this stems from the poor overall management of the owner who was utterly rude and unhelpful. I wish I'd checked the reviews on tripadvisor before booking my trip. This was booked by Exodus as part of our successfully Kili' climb. It's deep in the heart of rural Tanzania so don't expect great luxury. You get clean en-suite twin rooms, polite staff, adequate food choice and decent bar & pool area. They store unwanted gear whist you ascend Kili' and upon your return the only downside is no lifts;... more
