My husband and I stayed in Knockeven House for one night recently. My only regret is that we did not have more time there. What a wonderful house - so grand, yet so comfortable and homely. We were greeted on arrival by Pam, the owner, who is the ultimate in friendly hospitality. The tea and hot scones served in the... more

Period house, main floor nice, but rooms somewhat rundown. Attic room with view of the harbour, but a little cramped. This would have been a worse experience, but the woman running the place was very nice and accomodating. more

We just returned from two weeks in Ireland, and spent two nights at Amberleigh House. We booked a front room with a view of the harbor, and it was exceptional. Amberleigh House is very nicely appointed, well furnished and very comfortable. Michael and Thelma O'Sullivan are gracious hosts, and very helpful. The breakfasts were excellent, and the breakfast room has... more

In summary, Pam and John are great hosts, they have an amazing place, a refection of what Ireland should be, beautiful, warm, welcoming. The roads in the area are great (3 hours door to door from South Dublin 9.30 on a saturday morning), give yourself a trat and just go tthere for the weekend, no other reason that to meeet... more

Michael and Thelma our excellent hosts and were of great help on our trip to Cobh and the surrounding area. Michael made arrangements for us to be picked up at the Cork Airport and all went without a hitch. The house is beautiful... more

We had a group of 13 stay at the hotel in May for 1 night. Overall the hotel was OK but watch out they do automatically charge your credit card in US Dollars. This doesn't give you the best exchange rate. I asked them to void the charge and redo it but they wouldn't. more

We recently returned from a driving trip of Ireland. If you are thinking of going to Cork, this B & B, is a perfect place to stay. There is a very short ferry ride from Cobh to Cork, which gets you away from the big city and yet is convenient to visit. The hosts of Knockeven House, Pam & John,... more

Queenstown Story, is a journey filled with facts not fiction, it covers many subjects, regarding the life and times of those who lived and worked in Ireland. This is a story that will take you back in time, a time when good men and women, suffered great hardship, a time when they struggled to feed their young children. A time... more

I stayed at the Bella Vista over the Easter weekend. We were pleased to realise on alighting from the train that the hotel was only a five minute walk up the road. However it is up hill, which isn't quite as much fun with luggage so be warned! This is the situation with much of Cobh and its accomodations due... more

Stayed at the Delmar for Easter and couldn't have picked a better place. The location is perfect as it's tucked away just off the main road but only a few minutes walk to Cobh town, heritage centre and the waterfront and 2 mins walk to the railway station for Cork which is 20 mins away. The owners, Martin and Dolores,... more

My family and I stayed in 2 rooms at the Commodore which was a big disappointment. When we arrived we requested waterfront rooms which were available for an additional charge which we paid. One of the rooms had dirty coffee cups, flies and lost electricity at one point. The lights were turned on quickly after contacting front desk. We had... more

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Knockeven House. Our room was big and comfy; it had a canopy bed, a thick, soft carpet and a gigantic window facing the front grounds. Every morning a lovely array of fruits, jams, cheeses, cereals, and Pam’s delicious scones were waiting on the breakfast table. That along with eggs cooked to... more

We hit the pubs in Cohb and decided not to drive back to Cork. A local gentleman directed us to the Bella Vista House Hotel. It is a house that has been transformed into a hotel. The house has quite a little history behind it. It was built in 1845 by Dr. James Roche Verling. (He was personal physician to... more
