The house, while not particularly large, is set within a very spacious, mainly lawned, garden - we enjoyed watching rabbits and pheasants through the window. The decor is elegant to the point of being ornate (an excess of doilies). The bedroom was comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. Our private bathroom was across a landing, but with robe provided. It... more

My boyfriend and I booked one night's stay over the phone and were offered room 6. We checked it out on-line first and it looked fine so we accepted. Although the owner said it was on the 1st floor at no point did she say that it was directly above the bar area and that there would be considerable noise.... more

We have just enjoyed a weeks holiday at The Sulby Glen Hotel. This very friendly and relaxed hotel offers comfortable, clean accomodation. If you enjoy a traditional cooked breakfast, then you are in for a great treat. We were there during the three day beer festival held annually in the hotels marquee. Great beer and great fun. Well worth a... more

My family and I just returned from a holiday on the IOM and we truely enjoyed our stay at the Grand Island Hotel. We were a little leery after reading some of the reviews here but we found the hotel to be clean, the staff overly friendly and the view was beyond compare. The lobby and exterior were a little... more

The Grand Island Hotel Ramsey is apparently going to be closed soon. Quite right too. This is one of the grottiest hotels I have ever been to. The room was small and every item of furniture was chipped or stained. The bathroom was as if in an institution. The whole place smelled of damp. But what did it was that... more

Four of us recently visited the Grand as a 3 night getaway. We certainly didn't regret it either. When we arrived we thought we'd made a mistake - the hotel looks very tired indeed - but we needed have worried. It is tired definitely, but it is clean (and warm!!) and the location is superb. The food was fine too.... more

The Grove House is a Victorian Villa located on the outskirts of Ramsey. If you're familiar with National Trust properties in the UK, then this is like a miniature version of a typical NT house. There are 2 rooms along with the kitchens open on the ground floor with several bedrooms, bathrroms etc on the upper floor. There is also... more

What a fantastic find this hotel is - It's not perfect but the combination of dramatic location, great weather, friendly staff and comfy bedrooms made a family holiday to remember. We would certainly return. The decor is faded and in need of an update but if I had a choice between out of date with character or bland featureless decor,... more

WOW! Great location, amazing views, clean accomodation, friendly helpful staff. Best place I've stayed in with children and very good Breakfast selection! Lovely local walks as well on promenade and along coastline. Not bad for a 2 star hotel! It was also good value. It is a Victorian period hotel which has had alot of work done to her -... more

I have nosed through reviews for this hotel and have noticed that some things must have changed since 2004/05 ish. I would agree that the hotel is a bit tired, but for a 2* I thought it was pretty good. The decor, though not shabby, is a bit like it had been updated about 15 - 20 years ago &... more

Now I'm a girl who's been spoilt by 5* hotels and luxury breaks, so after I was booked into this hotel for a family event, I must admit I was a little put-off by the reviews on here. Let's not beat about the bush: This hotel is a 2* establishment, not a 5* but I have to say I really... more

Went to the Grand Island for a restful weekend and was presently surprised. We live in the Isle of Man - this hotel was a very grand place but was allowed to go down hill. The current owners are trying hard to improve the facilities. Check in was cheerful, room was no smoking with a sea view (room 110) and... more

Just returned from a wonderful long weekend spent at Kerrowmoar. Out parting comment in the Guest Book was that we felt like house guests, rather than paying customers. Brenda and Barry made us feel like part of the family. All other reviewers rave about the breakfasts and I can't add much more except to say that lunch is definitely not... more

My mother (83) and I stayed at Kerrowmoar West for four days last week, and the holiday was unforgettable. Brenda and Barry are lovely people, who enjoy having people to stay and do their utmost to make your holiday fantastic. Our room was beautiful, with a superbly comfortable bed, and all the extras imaginable - including tea and coffee, fresh... more

We stayed at the end of June for five nights. Aurea and Tony made us very welcome from start. I can understand the other positive reviews given for this establishment. There was a Victorian/Edwardian feel about the house but, at the same time, it had the benefit of all the modern conveniences. The breakfasts were superb; home-made bread, jams and... more

My husband and I spent a few days on the Isle of Man as my hobby is family history and I was keen to see some of the locations that my ancestors knew. I was pleased to find Hillcrest because Ramsey was the town with most associations with them and the advertisment for the hotel specified that the ingredients in... more

Stayed here for one night during the TTs with my husband. Absolutely wonderful. Spacious clean, bright room. Can't wait to go back. Idyllic situation too. Didn't stay for breakfast though. Will make a point of doing so next time. Slept like logs in lovely comfortable bed. more

brenda and barry operate a unique B&B that is hard to beat anywhere!! nothing is too much trouble for these considerate hosts and the breakfasts are so good and plentiful that you may not need to eat again until tomorrow !! Yet another recommendation for Brenda and Barry's top drawer B&B on the Isle of Man. They really do get it dead right and deserve every one of their 5 star rating. It's worth paying a little extra to stay in a beautiful place that is spotlessly clean, knowing that your every need will be catered for and all those little... more
