I've passed through Durnstein several times and always wanted to stay at the Schloss. My wife and I did for 3 nights. It was nothing short of fantastic. The rooms are super, the location great, the hike up to the Ruins (where Richard the Lionhearted was jailed for a time) was super - outstanding views, etc. The most romatic part... more

A fine place to relax enjoy the views of the vineyards and the Danube beyond. Even if you just want a glass of wine, this place is most enjoyable. Indoor dining , available but the garden and terrace are much better weather permitting. A fine and varied menu. Both hot and cold dishes available. Good service too. The Wachauer bread... more
