Casa Alta Royal Lodge

We spent the week following Christmas at Casa Alta this past December and came home thinking, "What a wonderful place to end the old year and welcome the new. " This historic lodge shares a mountaintop perch with Ourem Castle, adding spectacular views to its list of assets. From the ground floor --with sitting room, fireplace and cozy dining area... more

Casa Alta Royal Lodge is that perfect small place that one always tries to find and never does. The prices are more than justified for what one gets. We got a discount for three days. It is like miniature baronial residence without the intimidation and impersonal quality of a grand hotel. One is instantly greeted with smiles, an arrival drink,... more

Actually you shouldn't be surprised the reviews are ALL good....great location, spotlessly clean, and even a cappucino machine at Breakfast.... Friendly staff, and if your wondering where to eat..walk across the road and the best Chinese Resturant in Portugal (maynot) but OUR family thought so!!! Modern and stylish......great find! more

If you visit Fatima you should realize from the outset that this is a place that has its entire identity as a place of religious pilgrimage. You will not understand anything here, unless you know something about the modern day marian legend that has its origin here. I forgot the name of the small wax museum that is located on... more

From the airport we took bus rede expressos from bus station sete rios (seven rivers) only cost us 18 euros for 3 including our 3 luggages. It take us about 1.5 hrs to fatima which is the best option arriving in fatima bus station. Distance to our hotel approx 400mtrs and its easy walking distance to the sanctuary and the... more

Advertised as the best hotel in Fatima and I would say this is so. It's not 5 star luxury (like the 4 seasons) but was very good quality especially for the price. We saw prices vary by direct website vs. discount site. Go with the discount site. more

This hotel was great. It's well priced and the refurbishment means it's new and very clean. The staff were so warm and helpful and they went out of their way to make us more comfortable. The location is excellent and they even have a garage if you're planning to drive to Fatima. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I... more

This is not a place for people who prefer the anonymity of large hotels: it is rather like being invited to a cosy private home. There seemed to be a constant flow of interesting people with whom we had lively conversations during candlelit dinners. Lunch, weather permitting, is served in a small, beautiful garden with a reflecting pool. During our... more

Clean, comfortable. As usual, great breakfast (uniformly delicious everywhere we went in Portugal). The staff were hand picked for being personable, well spoken and informative. They are very helpful when you are visiting Fatima as a Catholic making a pilgrimage to the shrine. We will certainly go again. more

I have stayed in the hotel for just one week. It was ideally located for any pilgrim visiting Fatima for the first time. 5 minutes walk from the Basilica. It was very quiet at night time. The only problem was that after 11 am there was no chance of getting a drink of any kind. The rooms were very clean... more

Great hotel, wonderful staff, great rooms with bath, cable, good breakfeast, they rate it 3 star but much more like a 4 star hotel, 2 blocks to shrine and you can come and go any time you please which is good as shrine stays open 24 hours and some like to go late to do penatential walk when few around... more

Good location but with few parking spaces. You can park opposite off road but if you move your car, you won't get a space again until the evening when the day trippers have left. The hotel rooms are slightly cramped but clean with clean bathroom facilities. The breakfast buffet had a wide selection and was fresh and appealing. It's a... more

We spent an enjoyable 4 nights stay in this very reasonably priced 3 star hotel. Our double room was very clean and comfortable and of adequate size. The staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast buffet provided was superb and the tea and coffee were excellent. The hotel is situated in a quiet area and is yet only a 5... more

While this is not the closest Hotel to the Basilica it was a nice place to stay. The staff was soooo helpful and spoke english. A very friendly hotel, a couple of minutes' walk from the gates of the shrine, and from the mini-train that takes pilgrims to Fatima parish church and Aljustrel. The hotel serves a good buffet breakfast; for dinner, food is simply cooked and very well presented. The bedrooms and public areas are spacious and comfortable; the staff are very courteous and... more

We loved the ambiance and personal touches. All the meals were elegant and the food was magnificent with generous portions. We found the hospitality to be most gracious and welcoming. The facility was spotless, had wonderful views, walking distance to Main Castle. The well maintained and inviting gardens and pool area were very relaxing. I would highly recommend this facility... more
