Stayed at this hotel before a trip to Croatia. It is a little far from downtown Ancona, and the streets are very busy. So, walking very far is out of the question. If you are traveling to Ancona by train, this hotel is actually closer to the smaller train station (Falconara- I think) and so you should avoid the central... more

We were given a nice welcome by the friendly staff, and the setting was fabulous, but in every other respect the hotel was a real let-down. The 'standard' room was small with zero sound-proofing - we could practically hear the people breathing in the next room. The sheets were damp and the bed didn't feel aired. The food was incredibly... more

Perfect location and adequate for it's purpose. We were only in Ancona for a night so no problems. Room was quite small and very old fashioned. The bed, although very big, felt like it was ready to fall apart. Rooms feel like you're staying in someones house! Public areas were better condition. Bathroom had a sit shower in it....again very... more

The hotel felt a bit like a "Grand" hotel which is already past its best days. Still, I like my room. It was not exactly new, but tastefully decorated. That said, my colleague reported that he got a room on another floor that was significantly worse. The hotel is almost directly in the city center, but a little way from... more

Overpriced and pretty awful, could not wait to leave. It was out of season but I have never eaten such bad food in Italy, avoid the restaurant. more

It has been a while since my visit but I am trying to catch up on reviews of some smaller-less reviewed properties I have stayed at. As others have said, the photos look lovely but must have been taken 30 years ago. Everything was stale - from the decor to the food. Staff was as helpful as could be but... more

Wow! This hotel is something! Lets see, great food+greatviews+great pool+great room=great hotel! Firstly the pool, wow, loads of things to do, play table tennis, sunbathe, swim, stroll, sleep and read! The food is amazing, the breakfasts are delish and its great fun eating them outside! A definite must, near the beautiful old traditional town of Sirolo! more

This one was rough. My fiance and I still laugh about how bad "The Grumpy Hotel" was, even two years later. The staff was icky (translation: absent, disinterested, often downright rude) and that wasn't a welcome reception when we climbed up a virtual *mountain* to reach the danged place to begin with. If you're going to stay at this hotel,... more

We booked this through the internet and it looked lovely.. It was not. The entrance to the hotel said it all really, worn dirty carpet and smelt of hospitals. Our room was dull, the whole place smelt of hospitals and even our dog whined all the time, the first time she felt ill at ease from when we left the... more

If I had read the reviews before I booked this hotel, I would probably have stayed somewhere else. What a great surprise! This hotel is a little gem. The location could not be better! The hotel is full of olde worlde charm. The rooms look just like they do on the website, just look smaller! They are comfortable and very... more

This hotel is perfect if you are using Ancona as a base, because it is directly opposite Ancona Railway station. If you intend staying in Ancona more than a couple of days... a) You will be bored b) Find a hotel nearer the centre. Its a good 30 minute walk! The hotel itself pretty ordinary. It was built in 1914... more

My fiancé and I stay there during the summer and this is what we found. We don’t recommend it. Highlights -Near to train station -Near to rent a car companies, if they are open – in Ancona you never know. Lowlights - Smell: it’s difficult to understand why management doesn`t do something about. The room smells really bad. - Bed:... more

Doesn't look anything like the picture, and after we got off the ferry from Croatia at 10pm at night we almost missed it as none of the outside lights are on (unlike their web site). I am glad we only stayed there the one night, I wouldn't say it was the cleanest place I have ever stayed, there was a... more

Wonderfull hotel beneath the old city walls of the nice town of Osimo. Try to book a room on the back side of the hotel (the best are with a balcony) and you have a beautifull sight on the the of La Marche. Clean rooms and a reasonable breakfast. No English spoken at the reception, but very friendly. The hotel... more

We booked the Fortuna Hotel as a last minute decision to spend 4 days in Ancona. We paid the equivalent of £40 per night- including breakfast. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were a good size with a large bathroom. Our room was (what looked to be) in the extension part of the hotel and was reasonably modern.... more

Stayed here with my family for a couple of days after arriving at Ancona airpot before driving off to our villa some distance inland. It is a large-ish, clean and efficient hotel and I would have no problem in recommedning it for any one to stay at. Its not the best hotel you'll ever stay at but there's not really... more

After spending 4 great days in Tuscany last September, our perception was, beautiful, but way too many other North American/english speaking tourists. The movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" had really turned Tuscany into an Italian theme park, albeit a beautiful one. We wanted to absorb the culture, history and experience the people. After 4 days of speaking to mostly other... more

This was one of my most unpleasant stays ever. I have learnt to deal with most of the limitations of budget hotels. However there are these little things that really made the stay at this hotel a nightmare. The room, though spacious for the price was not very clean and frankly, stinking to high heaven. There was grime on all... more
