Strangely I found better value (if not nicer) accomodation in Madrid than in Gijon. The location is on the edge and therefore within walking distance of the 'old city' and near the habour though I got no view of it from my room! We stayed in Gijon for 2 nights as part of a bigger honeymoon trip. We almost missed it out but were so glad we went. The city has an understated amazing atmosphere. It is not pretencious, yet quite beautiful. It has a great beach and an old part of town with little squares with bars and restaurants. Go there if... more
