Arrived late in Bristol on a rainy Sunday night. Found the San Carlo open, with a few people enjoying dinner. Found the restaurant decorum to be clean and warm and a bit cheesy. when we ordered a bottle of wine in the "bar" to make up for the awfulness of it all, the waitress said "sorry we only have one wine glass" so my boyfriend had to drink his from a tumbler. The room smelt dank, they had run out of just about everything - chips, sauces, tea cups.... One of the lifts... more

There's nothing especially unusual on the Old India's menu, but we had a range of courses and we found them all to be excellent. What is unusual about the Old India though is the fantastic interior. The Frieze of "Commerce Uniting the Nations" is very nice, but more incredible is the write up the Victorian halfwit who created it gives... more
