We just returned from a week at the Seal River Heritage Lodge where we got in zodiac boats and swam with Beluga whales, saw polar bears from a safe distance out in the wild and then spent our last day in Churchill. Do not miss visiting the Eskimo Museum in Churchill. The town is small and you can easily walk... more

The long counter catches your attention when you walk in the door. Gleaming cases of pastries call to you. A small take-away deli section tempts with imported cheeses, olives and sliced meats. The seating at Gypsy's is communal with long tables all pushed together, ...find a seat where you can. We sat with some mushers and watched what looked good... more

We stayed at the Tundra Inn recently and would highly recommend it. Bob and Pat, the owners greeted us upon arrival, went over a quick map of the town which I carried with me everywhere, and let us check-in even though we arrived at 10 am. The rooms are spic-and-span clean, spacious and comfortable. Our room (and I believe all... more

The little kiosk is tucked into a corner of the Churchill airport and at first glance there is not a lot there. However what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in lovely handcrafted and reasonably priced jewellry. I had done some shopping prior to our departure from Churchill and my favourite souvenir is a pair of earrings purchased... more

We had the opportunity to visit Churchill for a few days at the end of March (2008). During our trip one of the absolute highlights was dogsledding with Bluesky Expeditions. We met the dogs learned how they were harnessed and best of all went mushing! It is incredible to see the eagerness and power that these animals possess to pull... more

The birds were great but the hotel was cold. This hotel should have been my last choice.Churchill is just beginning to capitalize on the interest of birders worldwide in this migratory hotspot. The Lazy Bear lodge was not prepared for what they said was an unusually cold June. And unfortunately they were not prepared to adjust to it either. The... more

We stayed at the lodge on a three night package in October - the lodge is relatively newly built and the rooms which are fairly basic, nevertheless, are clean and warm. Breakfast is included each day and whilst there is not a massive choice, there is something for everyone The tundra trips were enjoyable, although the tundra buggy was much... more

As the previous review states, the Bear Country Inn is warm, dry, and comfortable. The rooms are VERY simple - small bed, simple furnishings, small tv, no phone. A luxurious room is not why you go to Churchill, though, and the BCI suited the purpose. There is one common room to have a simple continental breakfast in the morning, or... more

We stayed at the Lazy Bear Lodge for 3 nights in mid November. The lodge was hand built by the owner Wally Daudrich to a high standard. We found the room simple, but clean and had everything you need. The food at the LBL was really good, the milkshakes are delicious. The two trips on the Tundra Buggy were excellent... more

We stayed here for four nights as part of a Polar Bear tour. The room was basic to say the least - two single beds, no hairdryer, dodgy décor in green, small bathroom in turquoise. The views from our window comprised an unfinished extension to the back of the motel and a wasteland with disused trailers. However, it was clean... more

Bear Country Inn (BCI) is a clean, warm, dry, and hospitable motel. It's no Hilton, but if that's what you require, I advise staying clear of Churchill completely -- it's a frontier town. The BCI is run by a husband/wife team, Sheldon and Michelle, who are very knowledgeable of the Churchill scene. They're accommodating hosts, willing to advise, call for... more

This is a very rustic hotel; its location is the 1st hotel in town. The town isn't huge so no where is too far to walk. It's adequate & clean, friendly staff and efficient service. We stayed there as part of a tour for 4 Days, the accommodation is basic, in your room you have a bathroom very clean (but... more

We stayed for three nights bear watching. It was warm, welcoming, clean and with very spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Coffee on the go in the lobby, free internet access in room or on PC in lobby. Kery large fridge in the room. Helpful and knowledgable staff. Look no further for somewhere to stay in Churchill. more

The LBL is the most fantastic hotel in Churchill. The owner Wally Daudrich and his wife build this log cabin style two storey hotel themselves. It has by far the best ambiance of any hotel in churchill. Food is excellent - specials include caribou, musk ox and artic char. Rooms are small but totally adequate and warm (definitely a requirement... more

I recently took a group of students to Churchill, Manitoba on the train from Hudson Bay, Sk. to Churchill, Manitoba. Our whole trip was to be 12 hours in Churchill (from 8:30am to 8:30pm). We had leased a Tundra Buggy for the day - a cost of $3200. We were to go souvenir shopping, and eat a buffet at Churchill... more

We just returned from a week-long visit to Churchill to view the polar bears in their natural habitat. We booked with Frontiers North/The Tundra Buggy Adventure and were unhappy with their poor organization (from booking through execution of the trip). Our “interpretive guide” was utterly unhelpful and couldn’t even keep track of where we were supposed to be when. He... more

Just stayed 3 days at the Lazy Bear on business. This is a nice little hotel. Keep in mind Churchill isn't all that upscale, but if you're going there and understand what you're in for, you can't do wrong by staying here. The interior is extreamly inviting and cozy. Beds are "OK". Bring your own hair dryer. Don't expect to... more
