We planned to go on tubing while in Dominica. The rain was very heavy and just before getting on board the owner came and stopped the activity for security reasons and was willing to give refund. This let us with a good feeling for security. more
We arrived from our cruise-ship-dive-boat (we love the luxury of living on a cruise ship while diving varied locations!). We were doing 7 ports of call, all "dive-able" and we considered making Dominica a "rest day". We are SO glad we dove there. Dive Dominica was well organized, decent equipment, good boat and we had two great dives for our... more
My husband and I got the opportunity to go to Randy's while visiting Dominica in May of 2009. The place was wonderful from start to finish. Randy, our waitress, and the lovely dog were all just great. The food was spectacular, the beverages were awesome (Randy's own mixes), and the service can't be beat. We were going to go in... more
My wife and I went to Dominica not knowing what to expect. The goal was scuba diving and overall relaxing. The cabin was simple but right on the water with a great view of the sunset over the bay. more
This place is incredible. I was with my family of 6 (parents both 60, kids 19, 21, 23, and 25). We are a very adventurous family so all the hiking was great for us. Definitely be prepared to break a sweat everyday. Both my parents happen to get a stomach bug on different days while we were there and the... more
My wife and I just returned from an eleven day visit with our daughter in Dominica. Our stay at De Champ was fabulous. Clean, modern room with a million dollar view. With our room we received breakfast every morning with fresh island fruit, a cell phone for our use "feel like family" teatment from Lies and Hans. The island is... more
My wife, sister-in-law and I spend 8 days at Gallette cottage (owned and operated by nature Island Dive) in June 2009. We did 8 dives with Tony, Selwin and Carey. They made our diving by far the eaisiest we have ever experienced. Every morning our gear was waiting, fully set up and on the boat for us. After the dive... more
Pointe Baptiste is a 25 acre estate outside Calibishie on the north end of Dominica. There are two buildings on the estate, the main house and a small bungalow guest house. We rented the main house for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. We self catered, opting not to use the cook that came with the house since there... more
We were fortunate enough NOT to stay at the Calibishie Lodges for the simple reason that it is located right on the main road through the village, perched on the side of a steep hill climb at the edge of town. Just while eating dinner there, listening to the roar of motorcycles and trucks grinding gears would not make for... more
We dove 3 days with this operation and were lucky enough be on their newest catamaran vessel. A large covered area, plenty of space, excellent ladders, with a bathroom, the rides are only 20-30 min. to Scott's Head . The captain and divemasters were friendly and professional and there were no incidents during our dives (no missing divers, bad air... more
With only 320 rooms on all of Dominica, accommodations are limited and my research of the major hotels in Roseau led me to pick the Titiwi south of Roseau, close to the Castle Comfort Dive Lodge, where we were scuba diving. The owners, Janet and Keith, Jamaican and Dominican born Brits, retired to Dominica and converted their home into a... more
If nature is your number one priority (It certainly is mine!) and you love slow food (cooked to perfection) this is thé place to visit. At Crescent Moon Cabins you really feel welcome. There are only 4 cabins so it is never crowded and the only 'noise' comes from the birds, insects etc.Just sitting on your balcony hearing the song... more
My partner and I had a fabulous 10 days here. Linda and Chris are very generous hosts. Really helpful with recommendations and directions for a variety of adventures on the Island. Dips in the pool were the perfect beginning and end to daily hikes. Local experiences worth doing are: 2 hour hike through banana plantations, visit to Batibou beach, Red... more
As someone who works in the travel industry I get to see and stay in a lot of places. Sea Cliff Cottages is a place you could only dream of. Dominica is very non-commercial and the breathtaking beauty makes you feel like you've died and gone to heaven. The ocean view and clean air at our cottage made us not... more
I have read reviews on trip advisor for several years and this is the first time I have ever written a review....this excursion was the hit of the cruise for us...just returned today from carnival victory...two adults and five teens...this tested everyone in our group...to be able to brave the heights during the canyoning...to be able to jump into deep... more
My wife and I arrived in Dominica aboard the Carnival Victory. After doing some research on Trip Advisor and Cruise Critic, we chose Nature Island Dive as our preferred Dive Shop. I contacted Karen by email, and made arrangements for a two tank dive. This was our first salt water dive since being certified, so we were both excited, and... more
More to come on this... I was there for a meeting, and feel really lucky I got to visit the beautiful island of Dominica. The Fort Young hotel was really great. I liked the historic feel of it, and the staff was very nice. more
I am a photographer, most of my travels I have to pay for myself, so my budget is very small. I am always looking for a deal. I have visited almost 12 islands in the Caribbean, out of which, Dominica is the least developed. Paradox is that it was there, I lived like a millionaire. Huge terrace, with amazing sea... more
We have just returned from a great vacation in Dominica - 7 nights at Comfortel De Champ in Portsmouth. We have a son attending Ross University School of Medicine - and though we were not able to see him that often during our stay - we were still able to have a great vacation with the help of Hans and... more
