If at al possible, try and spend at least two days here at one of the small family-operated inns. It is one thing to se one of the traditional gassho frame homes form the outside but it is amazing to actually stay on one. We stayed in Minshuku Koemon and had gotten the room facing the pond/carpark. The place was perfect. The minshuku is in old traditional style with no locks on the door. But it was VERY CLEAN and comfortable. I think it was of an excellent value! The food was authentic and was rather delicious! the best part was the bath area.... more
