airberlin, Germany's second largest airline, flies to more than 160 destinations in nearly 40 countries. Founded in 1978, airberlin operated its first flight in 1979 from Berlin to Palma de Mallorca. airberlin is currently headquartered in Berlin, and its hubs and focus cities are Berlin-Tegel Airport, Düsseldorf International Airport, Nuremberg Airport and Palma de Mallorca Airport.

Class of Service

airberlin provides up to two classes of service on its flights.

Business Class

Business Class passengers enjoy a reclining leather seat, complimentary meal service, priority check-in, priority baggage delivery and limousine service to and from Abu Dhabi International Airport, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and Chiang Mai International Airport.

Economy Class

Passengers traveling in Economy Class enjoy shared video programming, complimentary beverages and snacks on short-haul flights and complimentary meals on long-haul flights to Asia, North America, South Africa, and the Caribbean.

Food and Drink

Non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary to all passengers, and alcoholic beverages may be purchased in the Economy cabin. On flights up to four hours in length, airberlin provides complimentary snacks. On flights longer than four hours in duration, a range of complimentary bagels, baguettes, nibbles and chocolate bars will be served. On all airberlin routes with a flight time between 60 minutes and six hours, airberlin offers for purchase freshly prepared gourmet meals designed by Sansibar, which can be pre-ordered in advance of your flight.

On airberlin's long-haul flights to Asia, North America, South Africa and the Caribbean, each passenger in Economy Class will be served a main meal with a choice of two hot dishes, and a cold meal or snack.

Business Class passengers enjoy complimentary meal and beverage service.


Passengers in Economy Class enjoy audio programming and television programming on shared monitors. On flights over four hours, a movie will be shown. Business Class passengers enjoy personal monitors with a selection of movies and audio programming shown on a loop.

In-Flight Technology

airberlin's newest Business Class seats, which are available on select long-haul routes, have in-seat power outlets.

- airberlin's more than forty A319s, A320s and A321s are used on short- and medium-haul routes and provide one class of service.
- airberlin's A330-200s have a two-class configuration and seat up to 303 passengers, while its A330-300s have one class of service and are used on medium- and long-haul flights.
- airberlin has more than sixty B737s in its fleet, and they have a one-class configuration.
Bombardier Dash 8 Q400
- the Q400 is a twin-engined turboprop that seats up to 76 passengers in a single-class configuration.

  • You can earn miles by flying airberlin and other airline partners.
  • Miles can also be accrued by purchasing products or services from numerous participating hotel, car and retail partners and by using an airberlin credit card.
  • Miles can be redeemed for travel awards.
  • Miles are valid for 36 months, expiring at the end of the quarter in which they were collected. Miles of Gold members do not expire.
  • Membership levels are Classic, Silver and Gold. Classic is the entry level for all members. Silver status is attained by flying 20,000 or 24 times on qualifying flights in a twelve-month period. Gold status is attained by flying 40,000 miles on qualifying flights in a twelve-month period.
    • Perks for Silver and Gold members include bonus mileage, a free baggage allowance and free seat reservations.
  • You can buy miles for a fee.
