About Virgin America

Virgin America, based in San Francisco, began operations in 2007 and is a brand extension of the highly successful Virgin group. Its main hubs are in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and it flies to more than 15 destinations in the U.S. and Mexico, including New York, Dallas, and Washington DC. Virgin America's fleet of young aircraft offers unique features such as leather seats, state of the art entertainment systems and mood lighting that adapts to the outside conditions. Virgin America also shares much of the brand quirkiness in its onboard service and advertising as it does with its cousin, Virgin Atlantic.

Onboard Comfort

Virgin America offers three classes of service on its flights.

  • First Class

First class passengers enjoy white leather seats with 55-inch seat pitch and generous recline, two free checked bags and unlimited on-board entertainment, food and drinks. Passengers are also eligible to purchase a pass to the Clubhouse airport lounge in San Francisco (SFO), New York-JFK and Washington-Dulles (IAD).

  • Main Cabin Select

Main Cabin Select passengers enjoy black leather seats with six inches of additional legroom compared with main cabin seats, one free checked bag and complimentary food, drinks and entertainment. Main Cabin Select passengers are also able to purchase a pass to the Clubhouse lounge in SFO, JFK and IAD.

  • Main Cabin

Main Cabin passengers enjoy black leather seats, free and for-pay entertainment and on-demand food and beverages.

Food and Drink

Virgin America's innovative approach to food and beverage service allows passengers to order food and beverages throughout the flight via the inflight entertainment system. Flight attendants will bring your selections to your seat on demand. Snacks, sandwiches, premium non-alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase on all flights. Additional food options, including a variety of creative salads, sandwiches, protein-packed meals, hearty meals and comfort meals, are available for purchase in the main cabin on flights over two hours. Non-premium, non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary for all passengers on all flights. Virgin America permits passengers to open a tab, which if not closed at the request of the passenger during the flight, will automatically be closed at the end of the flight.

Red, Virgin America's in-flight entertainment system, offers a wide selection of entertainment choices:

  • Complimentary satellite TV, music videos, a 3000 song MP3 library, radio and games
  • Recent movies and premium TV are available in economy class for a fee

Wi-Fi is available on all U.S. flights for a fee through GoGo's service.
