About Air Austral

Air Austral is a French airline that is based in Sainte-Marie on the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Air Austral traces its roots to 1975 and the founding of its predecessor, Réunion Air Service. From its hub at Roland Garros Airport on Réunion, Air Austral flies to destinations in the Indian Ocean, France, Australia, New Caledonia, South Africa and Thailand.

Class of Service

Air Austral provides three classes of service on its long haul flights, and two classes of service on its short haul flights.

Club Austral

Passengers traveling in Club Austral on long haul flights enjoy priority check-in and baggage handling, access to departure lounges, amenity kits and complimentary meal and beverage service. Club Austral seats recline to 145 degrees on Air Austral's B777-200ERs and to 180 degrees on its B777-300ERs.

Classe Confort

Classe Confort is Air Austral's premium economy product. Passengers traveling in Classe Confort enjoy priority check-in and baggage handling, lounge access, amenity kits, recliner seats and complimentary meal and beverage service that varies depending on the departure time.

Classe Loisirs

Passengers traveling in Classe Loisirs enjoy travel kits on long haul flights and complimentary meal and beverage service that varies depending on the departure time.

Food and Drink

Complimentary meal and beverage service is provided to all passengers, and the menus vary depending on the departure time of the flight. Wines for passengers traveling in Club Austral are selected by Franck Lucet, a member of the Toques du Ciel.

Entertainment

All passengers traveling on Air Austral's B777-300ERs enjoy entertainment systems with audio and video on demand.Entertainment on B777-200ER aircraft includes 12 music channels for all passengers, 6 movies on personal video screens for passengers traveling in Club Austral and Classe Confort, and movies on overhead screens for passengers traveling in Classe Loisirs.

Customer Loyalty Program

Capricorne is the frequent flyer loyalty program of Air Austral.

  • You can earn miles by flying Air Austral.
  • Miles can be redeemed for travel awards.
  • Points expire on the last day of the month that is 36 months after they are earned.
  • Capricorne Premium membership is attained by earning more than 12,500 traveling points within the 12 month period preceding Air Austral’s accounting months. Air Austral’s accounting for the Capricorne Premium qualification takes place twice a year, at the end of June and at the end of December.
    • Capricorne Premium members enjoy waitlist priority, an additional baggage allowance, lounge access and bonus points on select flights.
