About El Al

El Al, a flag carrier of Israel, was founded in 1948 as the national airline of Israel. Its headquarters and its main hub are located at Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) near Tel Aviv. El Al serves nearly 40 destinations throughout the world.

Class of Service

El Al provides up to three classes of service on its flights.

First Class

Passengers traveling in First Class are provided with chauffeured service to and from the airport (does not apply to passengers upgraded to First Class or flying on a First Class award ticket). Passengers are met by a Personal Representative who will accompany them through special first-class check-in. First Class passengers also enjoy lounge access, fully lie-flat seats, personal video screens, power outlets for charging a laptop and amenity kits.

Business Class

Passengers traveling in Business Class enjoy El Al's special check-in counters and have access to El Al's lounges. Depending on the aircraft, Business Class passengers also enjoy personal video screens or shared overhead monitors, amenity kits on long-haul flights and either angled lie-flat seats or recliner seats.

Economy Class

Passengers traveling in Economy Class on some Boeing 777s and 747s enjoy personal video screens and power outlets for charging laptops.

Food and Drink

El Al offers a selection of meal choices and beverages, including Israeli wines, on its flights.


Personal video screens are available on Boeing 777 and 747 aircraft. Business Class passengers on Boeing 767s may reserve for free a VIDIBOX and enjoy video on demand during the flight. Other aircraft have video programming on shared overhead monitors.

In-Flight Technology

Most of El Al's Boeing 777s and 747s have power outlets for connecting laptops at every seat. El Al's Boeing 767s have 110v AC power outlets in Business Class and satellite phone service in Business and Economy classes for a fee.

  • You can earn points by flying El Al and its partner airlines.
  • Points can also be accrued by purchasing products or services from numerous participating hotel, car and retail partners and by using an El Al affiliated credit card.
  • Points can be redeemed for travel awards.
  • Points accumulated from El Al flights remain valid for 3 years from the date of the flight. Points earned from Matmid partner companies do not expire.
  • Membership levels are Silver, Gold, Platinum and Top Platinum Circle. Silver, Gold and Platinum membership levels are attained by accumulating 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 points in a twelve-month period. Top Platinum Circle membership level is attained by accumulating 10,000 points during a twelve-month period or by accumulating 9,000 points and flying 65 flight segments in a twelve-month period.
  • Perks for attaining status include priority on the waitlist, a mileage accrual bonus on all flights and lounge access for Gold, Platinum and Top Platinum Circle members.
  • You can buy and give points for a fee.
