Founded in 1919, KLM is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name and has approximately 32,000 employees. KLM is headquartered in Schiphol, The Netherlands, and has its main hub at Amsterdam-Schiphol. KLM is now a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, which was formed in 2004 as the parent company of Air France and KLM airlines. The combined Air France-KLM flies to more than 230 destinations in over 100 countries.

Class of Service

• World Business

World Business class is available on intercontinental flights. Passengers traveling in World Business class enjoy priority baggage handling, priority security screening where available, dedicated check-in lines, lounge access, an amenity kit, noise-cancelling headphones, and a three course meal service. Passengers are also given a traditional KLM gift, a Delft Blue miniature traditional Dutch house filled with Dutch gin, which have become collector's items among enthusiasts. KLM is in the process of replacing its angled lie-flat seats with fully lie-flat seats in World Business class.

• Europe Business

Passengers traveling throughout Europe in Europe Business class enjoy priority baggage handling, priority security screening where available, dedicated check-in lines, lounge access, and complimentary meal service.

• Economy

Passengers traveling in Economy on international flights enjoy complimentary meal and beverage service and personal entertainment systems. On flights in Europe, Economy passengers enjoy a snack or sandwich depending on the time of day and duration of the flight. Economy Comfort seats, which provide up to 4 inches of extra legroom, are available for an additional fee. Flying Blue Platinum members and passengers flying on a full fare Economy ticket are able to reserve Economy Comfort seats at no charge.

Food and Drink

KLM offers complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and either a meal or snack to all passengers, depending on the time of day and the duration of the flight.

Entertainment

Almost all intercontinental flights feature personal seat-back entertainment systems with audio and video on demand for all passengers.

In-Flight Technology

Passengers traveling in World Business class on the Boeing 737-700/800/900 series, B747, B777, MD11 and Airbus A330 aircraft have access to AC power outlets. All passengers on B777 and A330 aircraft may e-mail and text message using the seat-back entertainment system.

- Each A330 aircraft is configured with World Business and Economy classes of service with a 240 passenger capacity.

B737-300

- The B737s feature two classes of service and are used primarily on flights throughout Europe.

B747-400

- Each of KLM's 747s has World Business and Economy classes and can accommodate up to 415 passengers.

B747-400 Combi

- KLM has approximately sixteen B747-400s configured to accommodate cargo service as well as up to 275 passengers.

B777

- There are approximately twenty B777 series aircraft in the KLM fleet, which have World Business and Economy classes.

MD-11

- KLM's MD-11s have World Business and Economy class seating in two configurations.

Customer Loyalty Program

Flying Blue is KLM's frequent flyer loyalty program, and it is also the frequent flyer loyalty program of Air France, Air Europa, Aircalin, Kenya Airways and Tarom.

• You can earn award miles by flying KLM, Air France, other SkyTeam partners, and certain other airline partners.
• Award miles can also be earned by purchasing products or services from numerous participating hotel, car, and retail partners.
• Miles can be redeemed for travel and other awards.

• Miles do not expire if you fly KLM, Air France, SkyTeam partners and other airline partners at least once during a 20-month period.
• Membership levels are Ivory, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Those membership levels are attained by flying 25,000, 40,000 and 70,000 miles or 15, 30 and 60 segments, respectively, on qualifying flights in one calendar year. French and Monegasque residents have higher mileage requirements to achieve Silver, Gold and Platinum status: 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 miles, respectively, on qualifying flights in one calendar year.
• Perks for Silver, Gold and Platinum members include mileage bonuses, lounge access and priority seating.
• Silver members are given SkyTeam Elite status, which is recognized by all SkyTeam member airlines.
• Gold and Platinum members are given SkyTeam Elite Plus status, which gives lounge access to members when traveling on international itineraries.
