About Kingfisher

Kingfisher Airlines is an Indian airline headquartered in Mumbai. The airline commenced operations in 2005 and now provides service to multiple destinations worldwide. Kingfisher operates its main hubs at Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Kingfisher's founder is the well known, Vijay Mallya, who also started Kingfisher beverage company, manufacturer of a very well-known Indian beer. It gained international accolades for its premium cabin services through much of its existence, but was forced to scale back operations in early 2012. Due to the financial troubles the carrier was facing, Kingfisher cancelled all international services effective March 25, 2012, leaving only its domestic route network in operation.

Class of Service

Kingfisher Airlines offers up to two classes of service on its domestic routes.

Kingfisher First

At the airport, passengers traveling in Kingfisher First are assisted by personal valets, who will help with your baggage and guide you through check-in.

Red

Red Class is Kingfisher's low-fare economy product available on domestic routes.

Food and Drink

Complimentary food and beverages are served on all routes.

Entertainment

Personal televisions are available to all passengers on Kingfisher's A330s, to Kingfisher First passengers on its A320s and A21s, and in the main cabins of select A320s and A321s. Audio and video on demand, featuring movies from Hollywood and Bollywood, as well as television shows, games and music concerts, is available at all seats on Kingfisher's A330s and in Kingfisher First on select other aircraft.

In-Flight Technology

Passengers traveling in Kingfisher First on A330 aircraft have in-seat 110V AC power outlets, which can be used to plug in a laptop.

The Fleet

Kingfisher’s fleet includes the following aircraft types*:

A319, A320 and A321
There are multiple configurations of Kingfisher’s more than twenty A319s, A320s and A321s.
A330
Kingfisher has approximately five A330s in their fleet which provide service on international long-haul routes.
ATR 42-500 and 72-500
There are more than twenty ATR 42s and ATR 72s in Kingfisher’s fleet, and they can seat between 48 and 72 passengers.

Partner Airlines

Kingfisher Airlines was expected to join the oneworld alliance in February 2012, however, it put off its entrance due to the financial hardship it has encountered.

Customer Loyalty Program

King Club is Kingfisher’s frequent flyer loyalty program.

  • You can earn miles by flying Kingfisher Airline and certain airline partners.
  • Miles can also be accrued by purchasing products or services from numerous participating hotel, car and retail partners and by using a co-branded credit card.
  • Miles can be redeemed for travel awards.
  • Miles expire 36 months from the month they were earned, except that Platinum members’ miles do not expire. If a Platinum member’s status is downgraded, the member’s miles are reset to expire 36 months after the downgrade. You can extend the expiration of your miles for a fee.
  • Membership levels are King Red, King Silver, King Gold and King Platinum. King Red membership is attained by accruing either 6 Sector Points or 3000 Status Miles in a 12-month period. King Silver membership is attained by accruing either 60 Sector Points or 30,000 Status Miles in a 12-month period. King Gold membership level is attained by accruing either 120 Sector Points or 60,000 Status Miles in a 12-month period or 84 Sector Points in a 6-month period. King Platinum membership is attained by accruing either 180 Sector Points or 90,000 Status Miles in a 12-month period or 126 Sector Points in a 6-month period.
    • Perks for Silver, Gold and Platinum members include bonus mileage, lounge access and upgrade privileges.
    • King Club Silver members receive oneworld Ruby status when traveling with oneworld partners.
    • King Club Gold members are recognized as having oneworld Sapphire status when traveling with oneworld partners and have access to the Business Class and Frequent Flyer Lounges across the oneworld network when traveling on international itineraries.
    • King Club Platinum members receive oneworld Emerald status when traveling with oneworld partners and have access to the First Class, Business Class and Frequent Flyer Lounges across the oneworld network when traveling internationally.
  • You can buy and transfer miles for a fee.
