Air Italy was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Gallarate, Italy. Air Italy provides service to destinations throughout Italy, as well as to Northeastern Brazil, the Caribbean, Mexico, Africa and several Mediterranean countries. In 2011, Air Italy was acquired by Meridiana fly. Both companies are part of a new Italian transport group called Meridiana fly-Air Italy, and they will retain separate air operator's certificates.
On long haul flights, Air Italy provides two classes of service, and on short haul flights, a single class of service is provided.

Passengers on intercontinental flights enjoy first-run films and audio channels, including a special music channel for children.
