About Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and flies to nearly 70 destinations in Europe and the United States. It offers onward connections to more than 40 other cities in the United States via partner airlines. The primary hubs and focus cities for Aer Lingus are Dublin, Shannon, London-Gatwick and Cork.

Aer Lingus was founded by the Irish government in 1936. In October 2006, Aer Lingus became a public company when its stock was floated on the Dublin and London stock exchanges. Rather interestingly, over 25% of its stock is owned by its main competitor, Ryanair. While Aer Lingus began as a full service airline, it started migrating toward a low-cost model in 2007 for its short-haul and intra-European routes. Aer Lingus still adheres to more of a full service model on its long-haul routes to the US.

Class of Service

Aer Lingus provides Economy Class service on short-haul flights, and Economy and Business Class service on long-haul flights.

  • Business Class

Business Class passengers enjoy priority check-in and baggage delivery, lounge access on departure, angled lie-flat seats on the A330 fleet and on-demand inflight entertainment.

  • Economy Class

Economy Class passengers on long-haul flights are permitted to check one bag up to 23kg for free, and receive complimentary meal and non-alcoholic beverage service. All Economy Class passengers are permitted to bring one carry-on bag up to 10kg for free.

Food and Drink

Complimentary meals are provided on long-haul flights to all passengers. On short-haul flights, a variety of hot and cold food and beverages are available for purchase from Sky Café.

Passengers flying international long-haul on A330 aircraft enjoy seatback entertainment with a variety of movies, television shows, music videos and games. Passengers flying in Business Class also have access to a library of MP3 tracks from which they can create their own personal play list.

In-Flight Technology

Long-haul flights on the A330-300 have standard power outlets in all Business Class seats and, depending on the aircraft, in some Economy seats. Long-haul flights on the A330-200 have EmPower power outlets in Business Class, which require an adapter to plug in a laptop.
