Norwegian Air Shuttle, commonly referred to as Norwegian, is a low-cost airline based in Oslo. Founded in 1993,Norwegian is the second largest airline in Scandinavia. Norwegian operates its hubs and focus cities at Oslo-Gardermoen, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Copenhagen, Stockholm-Arlanda, Warsaw and Moss Airport Rygge near Oslo. Norwegian provides service to more than 100 destinations throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

All of Norwegian's aircraft feature a red nose cone and a tail painted with an image of a noteworthy Norwegian,such as Henrik Ibsen, Thor Heyerdahl or Sonja Henie.

Class of Service

Norwegian provides a single class of service on its flights.

  • Seats to most destinations can be reserved for a fee.
  • Extra legroom seats in the emergency exit rows can also be reserved.
  • The fees for a seat reservation and one item of baggage are included in the cost of a Fullflex ticket.
  • Fullflex tickets have more flexible re-booking and cancellation policies.
  • Passengers traveling within the Nordic countries and from the Nordic countries to Europe can check in using an SMS boarding pass on their smart phones.
  • Norwegian is rolling out high-speed broadband on its flights within Europe.
  • New 737-800 aircraft will be equipped with slimmer seats to increase legroom.

Food and Drink

Snacks, sandwiches and beverages are available for purchase on all flights.


Video entertainment is provided onboard Norwegian's 737-800s on flights longer than 2 hours, including a movie if the flight is longer than 3.5 hours. Ten channels of in-seat music are also available on flights longer than 3.5hours.

In-Flight Technology

On select aircraft and routes, Wi-Fi-enabled devices can connect to the internet once the aircraft reaches 10,000 feet. VOIP applications will not be enabled.

The Fleet

Norwegian's fleet includes the following aircraft types:

Norwegian flies more than 10 737-300s, which can seat up to 148 passengers. Norwegian's 737-300s are used on most of its routes, except for flights to North Africa, the Canary Islands and Dubai and domestic flights in Sweden.
There are more than 45 737-800s in Norwegian's fleet, and they are typically allocated to high-densityroutes and routes to North Africa. Norwegian has ordered additional 737-800 aircraft to modernize its fleet.

Customer Loyalty Program

Norwegian Reward is Norwegian's frequent flyer loyalty program.

  • You can earn CashPoints by flying on most Norwegian flights. Individuals earn 2% on all Economy tickets for international flights and 10% on all Fullflex tickets.
  • CashPoints can be redeemed for full or partial payments toward travel awards.
  • CashPoints remain valid until the end of the year you made your purchase plus 2 years.
