About Air China

Air China is the national flag carrier of China and provides service to over 135 cities in nearly 30 countries. Formed in 1988, it operates hubs at three Chinese airports: Beijing Capital International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, and Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

Class of Service

Air China provides two or three classes of service depending on the flight.

First Class

Depending on the aircraft, First Class passengers may enjoy fully lie-flat seats, angled lie-flat seats, or recliner seats.

Business Class

Business Class passengers enjoy fully lie-flat seats on Airbus A340-300s, and either angled lie-flat seats or reclining seats on other aircraft. Air China has announced that it will also reconfigure its Business Class on its Airbus A330s to add fully lie-flat seats.

Premium Economy Class

Premium Economy Class, which provides additional legroom, is available on A330-300s flying select routes within China and from Beijing to London and Düsseldorf.

Economy Class

Passengers traveling in Economy Class enjoy complimentary meal service on medium- and long-haul flights.

Food and Drink

Complimentary meal service is offered on international flights and domestic flights of longer duration. Various special meals may be requested in advance.

Entertainment

A seatback entertainment system with audio and video on-demand is available in First Class and Business Class on Air China's Boeing 777s and Airbus A340s and at every seat on its Airbus A330s. Other aircraft have audio entertainment in Chinese and English and video programming on shared overheard monitors.

In-Flight Technology

First Class and Business Class seats on Air China's B777s, B767s, A340s and A330s have 110V AC power outlets. Wireless internet is available on B777s.

Air China's fleet includes the following aircraft types*:

A319/A320/A321
- there are more than seventy A319s, A320s and A321s in the Air China fleet, configured with two classes of service.
A330-200
- There are multiple configurations of Air China's A330s, some of which have Business Class and Economy Class while others have Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class.
A340-300
- Air China's fleet has a handful A340s, which are flown with three classes of service.
B737-300, -700 and -800
- There are more than sixty B737s in the Air China fleet, and they are flown in a two-class configuration.
B747-400 and -400 Combi
- Air China's fleet includes B747s flown in a three-class configuration.
B757-200
- There are approximately ten B757s in Air China's fleet, offering two classes of service.
B767-300
- Air China's B767s feature two or three classes of service, depending on the configuration.
B777-200
- There are approximately ten B777s in Air China's fleet, and they are operated with three classes of service and have wireless internet access for a fee.

PhoenixMiles is Air China's frequent flyer loyalty program.

  • You can earn miles by flying Air China, Star Alliance airlines and other airline partners.
  • Miles can also be accrued by purchasing products or services from numerous participating hotel, car, retail and banking company partners.
  • Miles can be redeemed for travel awards.
  • Miles expire at the end of the third calendar year from the year the mileage was accrued (miles are valid for at most 36 months).
  • Membership levels are Silver, Gold and Platinum. These membership levels are attained by flying 40,000, 80,000 and 160,000 kilometers or 30, 50 and 90 segments, respectively, on qualifying flights in a twelve month period.
    • Silver members have Star Alliance Silver status when traveling on Star Alliance airlines.

Gold and Platinum members are recognized as Star Alliance Gold members when traveling on Star Alliance airlines and have access to Star Alliance members' owned lounges with the Star Alliance Gold logo at the entrance when traveling on international itineraries.
